I just wanted to say that i really like the monologue that we had to write. Last night when i was writing this paper, i found it hard to chose what character i wanted to write it on. I had so many choices like Buzz Lightyear and Potato head. I don't know about you but i almost found it easier chose a cartoon character than a real life person. I ended choosing Dirty Harry because i really love his famous line. "You gotta ask yourself", "Do I feel lucky?", "Well, do ya, Punk?"
What were your thoughts about this paper?
I liked it; I have a lot of practice getting into characters heads because I almost always do this when I read. But it was interesting having to actually write something from that perspective. For the record I too had a really hard time choosing a character but eventually I decided to go with Harry Dresden from the Dresden Files (a very good series of books) because I’d already gotten into his head for the round/flat character exercise.
ReplyDeleteInteresting comment about cartoon characters, Cale. It must be a real challenge to give an animated character real-life attributes and voice. I think the Toy Story series does this excellently. Ken from the third movie would be a good candidate for the voice monologue.
ReplyDeleteI like how when you were thinking of characters to write monologues about you only came up with cartoon characters cale. You are too funny! But I also really did like this assignment. At first I was really apprehensive, I didn't know how to start it. But once I started writing it became very easy to channel my inner Kate Beckett. Great post :)
ReplyDeleteI also really enjoyed writing the monologue. I've performed monologues on stage, but it was different actually writing one. Being in theater tends to make me over-analyze characters, but it really helps. Also, I think it's awesome that you wrote your monologue on a Toy Story character. Toy Story is definately my favorite movie.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed writing this monologue too Cale! I love writing and so it was cool to actaully get to put some words on paper from our own creativity, not from or about a book we're reading for this class. I too found it hard to choose a character, there are just so many! Cartoon characters definitely came to mind often, but in the end I did Kevin from Pirate Radio. Excellent post!
